Everything published here, from the reporting to the photographs to this page, is © 2026 Halftone or the contributor credited beside it. Photographers and writers keep their own copyright and license their work to us to publish.
What you may do with it
Quote a piece, at the length a review or a rebuttal needs, with the headline, the byline and a link back to it. Link to anything. Print a page for yourself or for a classroom. Feed the RSS feed to whatever reads feeds for you.
Republishing a piece in full, translating one, or using a photograph anywhere else needs written permission first. So does training a model on this archive. Write to the editor on the colophon and say which piece and where.
Corrections and the record
Pieces are corrected on the page, dated, with the original wording kept in the note. We do not quietly rewrite what was published, and we do not remove a piece because its subject would rather it were gone. Anything shown to be wrong, we correct.
What we do not promise
Figures are checked and sourced at the time of publication and go out of date anyway. Nothing here is legal, medical or financial advice, and a decision you take on the strength of a piece is yours. Links to other sites are not endorsements of them.
